Durostat 400 and Durostata are special wear-resistant steels from Voestalpine, which are characterized by the perfect combination of hardness and machinability.
The hardness (up to a maximum of 500 HB) is determined in increments by the direct hardening process, while the machinability derives from the low carbon content present in the alloy.
Thanks to their characteristics, Durostata and Durostat 400 steels are used in the production of structures and components frequently subjected to mechanical stress and abrasion. They are the most suitable material, for example, for making presses, crushers and parts of heavy vehicles or machines used in construction, such as diggers.
Hardness and machinability influence the uses and applications of these steels in industrial production: in fact, they have a good aptitude for welding with the possibility of operating even on very thin sheets, which allow the weight of the steel exposed to wear to be reduced and the weight of the built structure as a whole.
Veostalpine’s Durostata and Durostat 400 steels are therefore also the material most recommended for projects that need to maintain a low weight without sacrificing high standards of wear and abrasion resistance.
